About Keacast
Parrot Insight is the name of the company & Keacast is one of our many projects.
The company is run by my father & brothers, uncle and I. The initial idea of Keacast was thought of by my dad & my brothers are the developers who brought the idea to life. My dad budgeted his finances using Excel, but he thought about how to make this process easier & less time consuming.
Welcome, Keacast!
The Problem
The problem was “ finding an easy and efficient way to help people manage their financial cash flow and being able to manage multiple banks accounts at once”. The lack of time for most people to remember or follow up their personal expenses and incomes needs to be handled differently.
The Objective
Find a solution for people who want to manage their cash flow without having to use spreadsheets or other timely methods. People need a solution where they can effortlessly manage their money and maintain a financially stable lifestyle. People also need a simplified process for each financial task all in a single product.
The Solution
A application that allows you to forecast your regular spending, be aware of future balances, be able to record future events in advance so that you are not required to remember them, have piece of mind and understand your spending habits with Keacast.
My Role
Since my brothers already had developed Keacast, my job was to improve our UX / UI for the product.

Improve the overall user experience and user interface to ensure a user friendly journey.

Also, assisting with the products functionality & usability.
1 / User Experience
Take the users experience to a next level, implementing a onboarding process, pop-up messages to inform the user of important features, & feedback so the user understand what is happening.
2 / User Interface
Improve the UI to enhance the users overall experience, accessibility and clarify signifiers.
3 / Discoverability
Improve the discoverability aspect so users know everything that is available to improve their journey.
Ideation

Proto Personas
I wanted to form a deeper understanding of our users' goals, needs, experiences, and behaviors. So, I created 3 proto personas based on our initial ideas of our target audience.
Without any research, we anticipated the user to have certain characteristics:
A working professional , who loves to travel and enjoy their time off.
They are unable to manage their funds how they need to & often have trouble overspending.
Iterations
The Problem
UX
This experience is not very user friendly.

1. No onboarding process ( essential to let users know what to expect & how the product will benefit them )

2. There isn't much feedback ( this helps the users understand what they are doing, the current state & results of their actions. )

3. The user won't be able to discover many of the important features to assist them ( discoverability is important, it shows that the mapping and signifiers are used efficiently. )
UI
This color palette has accessibility issues.

1. The white background and the light green needs more contrast to distinguish the colors ( users with sight disabilities will have trouble. )

2. Colors need to be more consistent.

3. Iconography needs to be adjusted, some icons could be confusing & needs text to clarify their meaning.

SPLASH SCREENS

I designed a new logo for the Splash Screen ( this sets the tone for the experience )

ONBOARDING SCREENS
Created a smooth onboarding process to let the user know what to expect & what problem were going to solve.

Added some visuals to enhance the experience & important information they know to look out for during their journey.

LOGIN / SIGN UP SCREENS
After the informational onboarding process comes the login / sign up screens.

1. Added a few more benefits to the main login screen ( different context )

2. Simplified & redesigned the create account process ( added required to remember username text, user will use username as login information)

MAIN SCREENS
After the user has successfully linked their bank, the will encounter a few pop-up messages.
( These messages will provide short information on the main features that will benefit them on their financial journey)

Now, the main screens.
1. Homepage
- The account the user is viewing will remain at the top, where they can also easily choose which account to view
- Redesigned the balances ( added income )
- Added a few short cuts buttons so the user could easily move to some important information
- Redesigned the recent transactions & upcoming to help the user filter what they want to look for

2. Calendar
- Prioritized the balance of the selected account above their calendar
- Improved quick buttons so the user can quickly add a forecast to their calendar & filter their calendar.
- The user can swipe the calendar to view a different month, but also added buttons for some users that aren't aware of that interaction

3. Profile
- The Settings held on the information, so I designed a profile page that users would be familiar with.
