The Problem
It is hard to maintain a work life and social life balance when there is so much going on. It is difficult to communicate with friends & barely have to to talk to meet with one another.
The Objective
CLIQUE is all about maintaining our friendships and continuing to develop friendships easier with our hectic schedules as we get older.
The Solution
CLIQUE will provide friends with shared calendars to help them connect easier while providing tons of features to make tackling work and social life so smooth.
RESEARCH

Proto Persona
We wanted to form a deeper understanding of our users' goals, needs, experiences, and behaviors. So, we created a persona based on our initial ideas of our target audience.
We imagined our user would be a working professional in their mid-20s, single & probably a female. Using our proto persona & brainstorming, this got us started into where we could possibly take the idea.
Competitor Research
User Surveys
We built an online survey and shared it in various relevant communities. In just a few days, we received 25 submissions. Based on these, we identified 5 common pain points, which lead us to the next step.

IDEATION

User Persona

From the insights gathered from our surveys, we developed our ideal user. We used this persona whenever we wanted to step out of ourselves and reconsider our initial ideas.
Meet Amy Louis. She is a 32 year old dietician with an active lifestyle. She is computer savvy, resourceful, and uses social media. Amy is time-challenged between her job and social life but she wants to able to manage both aspects better.
We felt that our primary demographic would be in the 25-55 age range, and modeled her after our target audience.
DESIGN
Sketches
Thanks to Courtney with this wonderful idea & the amazing sketches and wireframes, as a group we were able to understand what direction we needed to head in.

We began the design process with low-fidelity sketches. Our sketches were based on the initial user surveys & competitor research.

Next, creating our wireframes to accelerate decision-making through visualization and prioritize the main features our users would need.
Low-Fidelity Prototype
Through our sketching & ideation phases, I spearheaded developing our low-fidelity prototype. With the collaboration of my teammates, we are able to start focusing on the main features for our users & bringing this design to life more. We are also able to start user testing from this point.
From user testing we learned:
-
"Connect your contacts" became "Connect your contacts to create CLIQUE groups"
-
Added an edit icon to the profile page to enable a user to edit their profile

First High-Fidelity Prototype
Through this process, while my team is developing our UI, I have been working on our interaction design to bring this experience to life.
From our user feedback, we added some interesting and funs colors, with the intent of creating a happy and loving vibe for our users. Color coded the calendar for each specific clique. Navigation has continued to evolve adding (new cliques creation, clique preferences, side menu bar & add to calendar. From our iterations, we continue to test the usability.
From user testing we learned:
-
Reconsidered the color pallet to make it clearer and more consistent
-
Added the ability to select and deselect buttons by clicking the same button twice
-
Increased the button sizes for mobile tapping
-
Added pop-up screens to improve intuitive usability

Final High-Fidelity Prototype
From our user feedback, I spearheaded our UI design, creating a more modern and simplistic design.
As a group, we narrowed our color scheme down to a mesh of different shades of blue, giving a relaxed and loving vibe to our users.
Improved our button states making them bigger and clickable for all users.
Improved our navigation and added some more pop-up messages when the user is signing up, so we could eliminate some confusion through the flow.

PROTOTYPE
FUTURE RESEARCH
In the future we would like to add more features like a more complex calendar, notes section, and bulletin board, and more.
